(St. George, Utah – Jan. 27, 2024) - Coming down to the final two points of the match, the Trailblazer tennis team battled for over four hours on Saturday afternoon falling 5-2 to Utah State at the Trailblazer Tennis Courts.

"The team played amazing today, so strong, but came up just short." said head coach Eric Pelton on the Trailblazers' performance.

Utah Tech picked up a win at number two doubles with Ana Gutierrez Sampere and Kylie Kezos rallying from down 0-3 to win 7-5. Utah State (1-1) notched the deciding doubles point with a 6-3 win at number three doubles.

Splitting the first four singles positions, the Trailblazers earned a point at number two singles with Adithi Venkatakrishnan dominating her way to a strong 6-4, 7-5 win.

Senior Ya-Chi Hsu picked up a win at number four singles with a 6-3, 7-6 (5) victory, but the Aggies earned wins at the final two single positions to clinch the win.

The Trailblazers are off next week before returning to action on Feb. 9 at Weber State (1-1).
