Freshman forward
Christian Hall (Layton, Utah/Northridge HS) scored the fastest goal in Dixie State men's soccer program history, and that goal proved to be the difference, as the Trailblazers won their fourth-straight with a 1-0 result at Point Loma Saturday afternoon in San Diego, Calif.
DSU (4-3-0/2-0-0 PacWest) played the ball into the Sea Lion third at the opening kick and after a broken play in front of the PLNU goal, sophomore
Dominic Damato (Las Vegas, Nev./Shadow Ridge HS) flicked the ball to Hall, who found the back of the net just 37 seconds into the match to give DSU a 1-0 lead. For Hall it was his third goal of the season, all of which have been game-winning tallies, and it was his second in as many matches overall.
Dixie State's defense held Point Loma (1-3-3/0-2-0) to just two shots on goal (11 shots total) the rest of the way, and senior netminder
Bradley Trella (Chandler, Ariz./Chandler HS) made saves on both attempts to post his first solo shutout of the season. DSU managed to take five shots in the match, four of which were on frame.
Prior to Hall's record-breaking goal on Saturday, the fastest goal scored in DSU history happened on Oct. 12 2013, when Nadav Elimelich tallied a goal just 1:24 into play in a 3-1 loss at Holy Names.
Dixie State returns home to Legend Solar Stadium for two PacWest matches next week as the Trailblazers host Holy Names on Tuesday, Sept. 27, and Fresno Pacific on Saturday, Oct. 1.
