Red Storm Volleyball Drops Home Opener to Fresno Pacific

Box Score

SAINT GEORGE - The Red Storm volleyball team lost 3-1 in a non-conference tilt with Fresno Pacific Thursday night.

Despite mounting a series of late game comebacks, coach Robyn Felder's squad had difficulty containing Fresno's front attack.

“Our offense looked really good tonight,” Felder said. “But our blocking needs improvement.”
Dixie lost 25-23 and 25-17 in the first two games before mounting an impressive 25-22 win in the third set.

After initially leading early in the fourth match, the Red Storms defense fell apart and wound up losing 25-20.

“I felt like we did a really good job,” Jen Hardman (American Fork, UT/American Fork) said. “We lost, but it was a learning experience. We have some good players here.”

Shannon Young (Whittier, CA/St Paul) led the team with 12 kills while Hardman racked up 21 assists.

Dixie State came into the contest 2-2, having split matches at the Seawolf Volleyball Tournament during their recent trip to Alaska.

Fresno Pacific improved to 8-1overall.

Dixie State must now travel to take on the University of Hawaii at Hilo on Monday.
